Valentine's Day is a special holiday for me and Chad. This Valentine's Day we celebrated by going to dinner and a movie. And of course it just wouldn't be Valentine's Day for us without watching one of our favorite movies in bed... Amelie. If you haven't seen this film then I suggest you go rent it. Now.
We didn't do anything too fancy, but it didn't matter because we were together. Over dinner we talked about the last 6 years we've spent together. We talked about the first Valentine's Day we celebrated... We were seniors in high school and had only been dating a few months. He took me to dinner at a fancy French restaurant and gave me a necklace and matching bracelet. The restaurant he took me to ended up being the restaurant we rented for our wedding reception. So yeah, looking back on that first Valentine's Day is always fun to do.
While reminiscing with Chad, he brought up a good point- Valentine's Day is so special for us because of all of the Valentine's Days that we were apart. For three of the four years while he was away at college we weren't able to celebrate together. And during one of those three years he was halfway across the planet in Italy. So for a majority of our relationship, Valentine's Day was a sad day for us. A day when we'd see happy couples flaunting their love and we'd be miserable because we couldn't be together. Now that we're living in the same city and are married, this holiday is fun for us. Now we're that mushy couple making out on benches at The District for the public to see on Valentine's Day. No more Valentine's Day blues for us... It's pretty awesome.
I know that I'm posting this blog a few days late but... Happy Valentine's Day! I hope whoever is reading this knows that they are loved tremendously by someone!
